Where does GasScout work?

GasScout currently covers the Princeton, New Jersey area. Open the app from further afield and it shows Princeton prices instead, with a banner saying so, rather than an empty map. More regions are on the way.

Why don't I see any stations?

Your search radius may be too small — try widening the radius slider on the Price locator tab. If location permission was declined, GasScout can't tell what's nearby and falls back to Princeton; you can enable it in iOS Settings › GasScout › Location.

A price is wrong or a station is missing

Please tell us. Tap the speech-bubble icon in the app and describe what you saw, or report the price you saw at the pump from the Report tab. Prices come from a third-party data feed and from other drivers, so they can lag behind the sign at the station.

How is "you saved" calculated?

When you log a fill-up, GasScout records the area average price for that fuel grade at that moment. Your saving is the difference between that average and what you actually paid per gallon, multiplied by the gallons you bought. Because the average is captured at the time of the fill-up, your past savings don't change as prices move.

Do I need an account?

No. Browsing prices on the map or in the list needs no account. You only need to sign in to log fill-ups and see your savings, because those are tied to you. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address.

Deleting your account

Open the "You saved" tab and tap Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all of your logged fill-ups. It cannot be undone.
